Broomfield Commons Park

Question: With all this snow, we’d love to go sledding, but we don’t know where the good hills are - where do you go with your families?
Response: We love the hills over at Broomfield Commons Park. There are great family-friendly areas at the end of the road through the Paul Derda parking lot. We went the other day and there were TONS of kids sledding and having a huge snowball fight. It was so fun! 10/09

Cotton Creek Park

Question: With all this snow, we’d love to go sledding, but we don’t know where the good hills are - where do you go with your families?
Response: Cotton Creek Park across from Front Range Community College has a killer sledding hill. Long hill makes for great sledding but also a long walk back up the hill so not really great for kids < 5 years old. 11/09
Ruby Hill Rail Yard

The Ruby Hill Rail Yard in Denver is a place where you can take your kids to ski, snowboard and sled for free. It’s more of a learning park - small hills and you have to walk back up to the top - but I’m sure many of us have kids that could use the practice before we pay for lift tickets!
The park is located at the intersection of Platte River Dr. and Jewell Ave. in Denver (about a 25-30 min drive from Broomfield). To see a map, click here. Parking is available from either Federal Blvd. or South Platte River Drive - take Jewel Avenue to the south park entrance and proceed north to the parking lot. The park is open daily from dawn until 9pm and will be open until the end of February, weather permitting.
Starting January 14th, Christy Sports will be offering free ski and snowboard rentals to kids ages 8 -17 years. You will have to sign a release and waiver to use the rentals, but you’ll only have to do this once each season. The free rentals will be available during these hours:
Fridays: 3-8pm
Saturdays: 11am–7pm
Sundays: 11am–6pm 9/11
